Tirthan Valley Weekend Itinerary from Delhi
Overnight there, two full days in the valley, overnight back. Here is how to do it.
A Tirthan Valley weekend from Delhi works if you travel overnight on Friday and come back overnight on Sunday. Here is a realistic 2-night plan using Chhet, near Jibhi, as your base.
Getting there: the overnight plan
- Distance: about 480–530 km, 11–13 hours by road
- Bus: book a Delhi–Manali Volvo from ISBT Kashmere Gate or Majnu Ka Tilla (departures mostly 5–9 PM) and get off at Aut, usually 5:30–7:30 AM
- Aut → Banjar about 20 km by local HRTC bus or taxi, then Banjar → Jibhi/Chhet
- Car: Delhi → Chandigarh → Kiratpur → Bilaspur → Mandi → Pandoh → Aut. Turn right before the Aut Tunnel toward Larji/Banjar
- Carry cash; ATMs in Aut and Banjar are often offline
Friday night
Leave Delhi by the evening bus or start driving by 9–10 PM.
Saturday: arrive, rest, explore Jibhi
- Morning: reach Aut, transfer to Chhet, check in, breakfast
- Afternoon: Jibhi waterfall and a slow walk through Jibhi village
- Evening: Chehni Kothi tower walk if you have energy, or a bonfire and home-cooked Himachali dinner
Sunday: Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake
- Early start to Jalori Pass (about 3,120 m), weather and road permitting
- Walk to Serolsar Lake (about 5 km each way) or the shorter Raghupur Fort meadow
- Alternative: Gushaini and the Tirthan river; Great Himalayan National Park core-zone treks need a Forest Department permit (Shamshi or Sai Ropa)
- Late afternoon: back to Aut for the evening Delhi bus
Got a third day? Add Monday
Do the drive back by daylight, or add a GHNP buffer-zone walk from Gushaini. Long weekends bring traffic jams on the Aut–Banjar road, so midweek stays are calmer.
