Jibhi in summer: April to June
Weather, crowds and cool nights, from a stay in Chhet.
Short answer: April to June is a good time to visit Jibhi. Days are mild to warm, with average highs of about 21°C in April and about 26°C in June, and nights stay cool. May is the easiest month; rain picks up in late June as the monsoon nears. Weekends in the school holidays get busy, so come midweek if you can. At Peaks N Valley Stays in Chhet, near Jibhi, the Glass House has AC and a private hot tub, and the two Mudhouses suit families.
When Delhi and Noida touch 40°C, Jibhi in summer feels like a different country. Days are warm enough for a T-shirt, evenings are cool enough for a light jacket, and the valley is green. We host guests in Chhet, a few minutes past Jibhi, through April, May and June, so this guide covers what the weather is really like, when it gets busy, and how to plan around both.

In short: April is fresh and a little unpredictable, May is the easiest month of the three, and June is the warmest, with rain arriving late in the month. Even in June, the shade under the deodars is cool and nights rarely feel hot.
Jibhi in April spring, with cool nights
By April the snow has gone from the village, days are mild and nights still drop to single digits. Expect a few showery afternoons. The Great Himalayan National Park's official season calendar marks April to June as one of its two core-zone trekking windows and says March to June is a good time for birding.
Snow in Jibhi village in April is unusual. Old snow can linger higher up early in the month, so if a pass or a high trail is on your list, ask locally before you set out. Do not plan an April trip around snow.
Jibhi in May the easy month
May is the driest of the three summer months and the most comfortable for long days out: the walk to Jibhi waterfall (the pool people call "Mini Thailand"), a drive up to Jalori Pass for the Serolsar Lake trek, or a slow afternoon by the Tirthan river. GHNP lists April to October for trout fishing in designated eco-zones; you need a licence, and our guide covers the rules.
It is also when school holidays start, so weekends and long weekends get busy. In 2027, Bakrid and Buddha Purnima fall close together in May; our long weekends 2027 guide shows how a few leave days turn that into a longer break.
Jibhi in June warm days, monsoon on the way
June is the warmest month, with average highs in the mid-20s. It is still far cooler than the plains, which is why families come up in the school holidays. Rain picks up in the second half of the month as the monsoon approaches. If you are travelling late in June, keep a buffer day, avoid driving the last mountain stretch after dark, and check IMD Shimla and District Kullu updates before you leave.

Crowds and how to avoid them
- Busiest: weekends from mid-May to June, long weekends, and the school-holiday weeks.
- Quietest: Monday to Thursday in April and early May. Jibhi market can feel busy while Chhet stays calm.
- Roads: the Aut tunnel to Banjar to Jibhi road and the Jalori road see more cars on holiday weekends. Start early and leave the last stretch for daylight. Our Delhi to Jibhi by car guide covers the route.
- Book early for groups: if you want the whole property for 8 to 10 people in the school holidays, ask well ahead. See group stay.

What to pack for a summer trip
- Light layers and T-shirts for the day, plus a fleece or light jacket for evenings, especially in April.
- Comfortable walking shoes with grip; trails can be dusty or muddy.
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a cap. The sun is strong at this height even when the air is cool.
- A light rain jacket or umbrella, essential in late June.
- A water bottle and any regular medicines; shops in Jibhi are small.
