Pet friendly stay in Jibhi: driving up with your dog
The route from Delhi or Chandigarh, breaks for your dog, and a warm cottage at the end.
Short answer: a pet-friendly stay in Jibhi works best when you can drive your dog right to the door, park for free and settle into a cottage that is warm at night. That is how our cottages in Chhet, a few minutes past Jibhi, are set up, and pets are welcome in every one of them.
Why most dog owners drive up
Overnight buses to Aut are the cheapest way to reach Jibhi, but travelling with a dog on a long-distance bus is hard to plan, so most guests with pets come by car. Driving also means your dog's bed, bowls and food come with you, and you can stop whenever they need a break.
The route from Delhi or Chandigarh
- From Delhi: roughly 480–530 km, usually a long day or a split trip. Head for Mandi, then Aut, then turn onto NH-305 towards Banjar and Jibhi.
- From Chandigarh: the same road via Kiratpur, Bilaspur and Mandi to Aut, then NH-305 to Banjar and Jibhi.
- The last stretch: from Aut it is roughly 28–35 km via Banjar. This route stays usable through the year, unlike the Jalori Pass road from the Shimla side.
- Parking: you can drive right up to the cottages, and parking is free.
We send the location pin and directions for the last few kilometres on WhatsApp. Full details are on how to reach and in our Delhi to Jibhi guide.

Breaks that keep your dog happy
- Stop every 2–3 hours for water and a short walk on a lead, away from the highway.
- Keep the car shaded and never leave your dog inside with the windows up.
- Carry your dog's usual food: switching food on a road trip upsets stomachs.
- Pack a towel for muddy paws and a blanket or bed that smells like home.
- Aim to finish the mountain stretch before dark.
Which cottage suits you and your dog
Couple plus dog: the Glass House in Jibhi sleeps 2, with a private hot tub and glass walls facing the valley. Friends or family plus dog: the Mudhouse cottages sleep up to 3 each, or 6 if you book both side by side. All cottages have a room heater, 24x7 hot water and power backup, so cold nights are comfortable for everyone.
