Jibhi family trip: places to visit and where to stay
Easy sights, a 3-day plan and the practical checks that make a family trip work.
Families ask us different questions from couples: can the car reach the door, will grandparents be warm, what can the kids actually do? Here are straight answers.
Short answer: yes, Jibhi is good for a family trip if your family likes fresh air, short walks and slow evenings more than amusement parks and shopping. The best places to visit in Jibhi with family are easy ones: Jibhi waterfall (a 10–15 minute walk), Chehni Kothi, the Tirthan riverside, and Jalori Pass by car when open. The things that matter most for families are practical: a car that reaches the door, heating, hot water, food on site and a few buffer hours for the long drive.

Is Jibhi good for families?
- Good for: families with children who enjoy walks, grandparents who want a quiet, clean-air break, and multi-generation groups who want to cook less and talk more.
- Less good for: families who need malls, play zones or a lot of organised activities; Jibhi is a small village with a small market and no Mall Road.
- Watch out for: the long drive (roughly 12–13 hours from Delhi by road), steep village paths at some stays, and cold winter nights.
Places to visit in Jibhi with family
- Jibhi waterfall: about 1 km from the market, a short forest walk; fine for kids with a hand to hold near the water.
- Jalori Pass by car: roughly 45 minutes up from Jibhi when open, with snow views from late autumn. Elders can enjoy it from the top without walking far.
- Serolsar Lake: roughly 5 km each way from Jalori; good for active teens, long for small children.
- Chehni Kothi and Shringa Rishi temple: history, wooden architecture and a 45–60 minute uphill path; elders can stay at the temple while the others walk.
- Tirthan riverside: stone-skipping and picnics on safe banks; keep children well back from fast water.
- Banjar town: a short drive for supplies, a pharmacy and a change of scene.
Choosing a family stay in Jibhi
Family trips go wrong on the small things, so check these before you book any stay, ours included:
- Can the car reach the door? Many Jibhi stays need a walk with luggage down steps from the road. At ours you drive right up to the door and park free.
- Heating and hot water: nights are cold from October. Every one of our cottages has a room heater, 24x7 hot water and power backup.
- Food on site: with kids and elders, you do not want to drive out for every meal. Our local chefs cook home-style food; ask for the menu on WhatsApp.
- Room layout: our mud house cottages in Chhet sleep up to 3 each with 2 double beds per cottage; book both and a family of 6 shares the patio and garden.
- Pets: the family dog is welcome too; see pet friendly stay in Jibhi.
A 3-day Jibhi family plan
- Day 1: arrive by midday; rest, lunch, short waterfall walk.
- Day 2: Jalori Pass by car if open (Serolsar for the energetic ones), or Shringa Rishi and Chehni Kothi.
- Day 3: slow breakfast, river picnic, leave after lunch.
Longer versions are in our Jibhi itinerary for 2–5 days.
Getting there with kids and elders
- By car: split the drive with a night in Mandi or Chandigarh if you have small children or elders; it makes the trip.
- By bus: an overnight private Volvo from Delhi to Aut is recommended, then a taxi; we can help arrange one from Aut (fares vary).
- Winter route: come via Aut and Banjar; Jalori often shuts after heavy snow. See Delhi to Jibhi how to reach.
Packing for a family trip
- Warm layers for everyone, even in May evenings; thermals from November.
- Shoes with grip for forest paths.
- Any regular medicines; Banjar is the nearest town for a pharmacy.
- A small day bag with snacks and water for Jalori days.
