Unique stays in Jibhi: glass house, mud house, dome or tree house?

What each kind of stay is really like, and what to ask before you book.

Short answer: unique stays in Jibhi include glass houses, mud houses, domes and tree houses. A glass house suits couples and stargazers, a mud house suits families and friends, and domes and tree houses are fun for the novelty. Whatever you pick, check heating, hot water, power backup and road access first. At Peaks N Valley Stays in Chhet, near Jibhi, we have a Glass House with a private hot tub and two Mudhouses; we do not have a dome or a tree house.

Search for unique stays in Jibhi and you will see domes, tree houses, glass cottages and mud houses. They look wonderful in photos, but each one feels different on a cold January night or after a long drive. We run two of these types in Chhet, a few minutes past Jibhi: a Glass House for couples and two Mudhouses for friends and families. We do not have a dome or a tree house. So here is a plain guide to what each type is like and what to ask before you book any of them.

Four kinds of unique stay you will find around Jibhi

  • Glass house or glass cottage: big glass walls or a glass roof, so the view and the sky are the main event. Best for couples and stargazers. Ask how it stays warm in winter and how private the glass is.
  • Mud house: thick mud walls, a cosy and earthy feel, and usually a more homely layout. Good for families and friends who want space and warmth.
  • Dome stay: a round tent-like or geodesic structure, often with a clear panel for the sky. Fun for a night or two. Ask about heating, the attached bathroom and what happens in rain or snow.
  • Tree house: a cabin raised on stilts or built around trees. Great for the novelty and the view. Ask about the stairs, especially with parents, small kids or luggage, and whether it has a heater and hot water.

None of these is better for everyone. The right one depends on who is coming, the month and how much you want to walk with bags.

Our Glass House for couples

The glass house in Jibhi is built for one couple, up to 2 guests. The bed sits right beside the glass, so the valley is the first thing you see in the morning, and the glass roof keeps the night sky above you. It has its own private hot tub facing the mountains, a room heater, AC, 24x7 hot water and power backup, plus Wi-Fi and a work desk.

It suits honeymoons, anniversaries, proposals and anyone who wants a quiet night under the stars. Room decoration, a cake and a candlelight dinner are available on request with 1 day's advance notice. For clear-sky nights, see our stargazing in Jibhi guide.

Our Mudhouses for friends and families

The two mud house cottages in Chhet are cosy cottages for up to 3 guests each, or 6 if you book both. Each has a loft, and the two sit side by side with a shared patio and garden, so a family or group gets its own space and still stays together. Evenings are for the fire pit; a bonfire or BBQ can be arranged on request at an extra charge.

They suit parents who do not want steep steps, friends on a long weekend, dog owners and trekkers using Jibhi as a base for Jalori Pass. Coming as a bigger group? Add the Glass House and book the whole property, which sleeps 10 comfortably.

What to check before you book any unique stay

  • Heating: glass, domes and raised cabins can get cold fast at night from October to March. Ask for a room heater, not just extra blankets. Every cottage of ours has one.
  • Hot water and power: is hot water 24x7, and is there power backup if the valley supply drops in bad weather? Ours has both.
  • Road access: can your car reach the door, or is there a walk with bags? Many village stays are a short climb from the road. At ours you drive right up to the door and park free.
  • Hot tub or jacuzzi: is it private or shared, and is it inside or outside? Our jacuzzi room guide explains what listings really mean.
  • Bathroom: attached and indoor, or a short walk away? This matters most for domes and tents.
  • Weather plan: snow is possible from December to February and never guaranteed. Ask what happens to the road and the stay after snowfall. Read Jibhi in winter first.
  • Pets and kids: ask before you book. Ours are pet friendly.
  • Real photos: ask for a short video of the room on WhatsApp, not just edited listing photos.
