A girls' trip to Jibhi: is it safe, and how to plan it
Honest safety tips, the official numbers to save, getting there in daylight and where a group can stay.
Short answer: no one can guarantee safety anywhere, and we will not. Jibhi is a small village in Kullu district built around cottages, cafés and forest walks, not nightlife. Plan the practical things: arrive in daylight (overnight buses reach Aut around dawn), fix your taxi pickup in advance, walk trails together and finish before sunset, keep live location on, and save 112 (any emergency) and 1091 (Women Helpline) before you lose signal. For a group, pick a stay you can drive right up to, with someone who answers at night.
A girls' trip to Jibhi often looks like this: four or five friends, a long weekend, a cottage with a view and no fixed agenda. If you are planning one, the first question is probably the one in our title: is Jibhi safe for girls? Here is our honest answer, the official numbers worth saving, and the practical steps that make the trip easier, from people who live and host in Chhet, near Jibhi.
Is Jibhi safe for girls?
We will not promise that any place is safe, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can tell you is what Jibhi is like: a small village in Banjar sub-division of Kullu district, on the road up to Jalori Pass, with homestays, cottages, cafés and forest walks rather than a nightlife strip. The trip here is daytime walks, slow meals and early, cold evenings.
The realistic risks for any group in the hills are mostly practical ones: arriving tired before dawn, mountain roads after dark, unlit forest paths, slippery rocks near water, patchy phone signal and the cold. Plan around those, keep the usual precautions you would use anywhere, and stay somewhere you can reach easily and where someone answers the phone.
Save these numbers before you lose signal
| Dial | For | Listed by |
|---|---|---|
| 112 | Any emergency (police, fire, ambulance) | HP State Disaster Management Authority |
| 1091 | Women Helpline | District Kullu |
| 108 | Ambulance | District Kullu |
| 1363 | Tourist helpline, 24x7 (toll-free 1800-11-1363) | Ministry of Tourism |
112 and 108 are listed by the HP State Disaster Management Authority; the Women Helpline 1091 and 108 by District Kullu on its official website; the 24x7 tourist helpline, in 12 languages, by the Ministry of Tourism (PIB, February 2026). Checked on 17 October 2026.
- Shakti Button app (Android): an HP Police and NIC Himachal app for people, women in particular, who need help in Himachal Pradesh. You save up to three emergency contacts; when you shake the phone or press the red button, it sends an SMS with your GPS location to the police district control room and to those contacts. According to its Shakti Button listing, it works within Himachal Pradesh. Set it up at home, not on the road.
- Police stations: the District Kullu police page lists eight police stations in the district, including Police Station Banjar (Jibhi is in Banjar sub-division) and a women police station at Sarwari in Kullu.
- Share your plan: keep live location on in your group chat, and send someone at home your bus, stay and pickup details.
Getting there: plan for daylight
The usual route from Delhi is an overnight bus (ISBT Kashmere Gate or Majnu Ka Tilla) to Aut, and the usual dawn arrivals land at about 5:30–7:30 AM. From Aut it is roughly 28–35 km to Jibhi via Banjar. Our Delhi to Jibhi guide covers the drop point and the last stretch in detail.
- Fix the pickup before you leave Delhi. Ask your stay to help arrange a taxi from Aut (we do this for our guests; fares vary by dates), and get the driver's name and number the evening before.
- Share the vehicle number in your group chat when you get in, and keep one phone charged with a power bank.
- Do not plan to arrive after dark. If a bus runs late, wait for daylight in Aut or Banjar rather than rushing the hill road.
- Driving yourselves? Read Delhi to Jibhi by car first, keep the hill stretch for daylight, and take breaks.
On the ground: simple habits that help
- Walk trails together and finish before sunset. The Jibhi waterfall path is not lit, and forest paths get dark early, especially from November.
- Tell your host your day plan and roughly when you expect to be back.
- Carry some cash and download offline maps; signal varies from spot to spot and dips on forest stretches.
- Respect the water. Do not swim or wade in fast water, especially after rain, and stay off wet rocks for photos.
- Follow the rules posted at temples and village spaces, and ask before photographing people or homes.
- Check the season. In July and August the bigger risk is the road, not the village; see Jibhi in monsoon. In winter, plan for cold and remember snow is never guaranteed (Jibhi snowfall).

A 3-day plan for a girls' trip
- Day 1, arrive and slow down: reach in the morning, sleep off the bus, lunch at the cottage, a short walk in the village, then sunset from your patio.
- Day 2, waterfall and Chehni Kothi: the Jibhi waterfall walk in the morning, tea in Jibhi market, then the old Chehni Kothi tower. Back before dark.
- Day 3, Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake: when the pass is open, drive up to Jalori Pass (roughly 12–14 km above Jibhi via Shoja) and walk about 5 km to Serolsar Lake. If the pass is closed, spend the day by the Tirthan river instead.

Where a girls' group can stay in Chhet
For four to six friends, the mud house cottages in Chhet work well: up to 3 guests each or 6 with both, side by side with a shared patio and garden, a fire pit and a loft in each. For a bigger gang, the whole property sleeps 10 comfortably, and when you book all three cottages there are no other guests on site. Going as a pair? The glass house in Jibhi is for up to 2 guests: the bed sits right beside the glass and the cottage has a glass roof, and it has its own private hot tub facing the mountains. Room decoration, a cake and a candlelight dinner are available on request with 1 day's advance notice.
All three have a room heater, hot water runs 24x7 and there is power backup. You can drive right up to the door and park free, our local chefs cook home-style meals from a menu, and we can help arrange a taxi from Aut.

Questions to ask any stay before you book
- Who do we call at night, and will someone answer?
- Can a car reach the door, or is there a walk with bags?
- Is the property private for our group, or shared with other guests?
- Can you help arrange a taxi from Aut, and share the driver's details in advance?
- How is the place heated, and what happens if the power drops?

What is the women helpline number in Himachal Pradesh?
The Women Helpline is 1091, as listed on the official District Kullu website. For any emergency, dial 112. HP Police and NIC also offer the Shakti Button app, which sends your GPS location to the police district control room and up to three contacts.

Jibhi suits a slow trip better: walks, waterfalls, cafés, home-style food and quiet evenings by a fire. Evenings get cold early, and we do not plan or promote parties.
